Types of Fire Apparatus
Engine
Fire engines, also known as pumpers, are designed to carry water, hoses, and pumps to combat fires. They typically have a water tank, fire pump, and various compartments for equipment.
Tanker/Tender
Tankers or water tenders are specialized firefighting apparatus designed to transport large quantities of water to fire scenes, particularly in areas without hydrants.
Rescue
Rescue vehicles carry specialized equipment for technical rescue operations, including vehicle extrication, confined space rescue, and other emergency situations.
Brush Truck
Brush trucks or wildland fire engines are designed to fight fires in rural and wildland areas. They typically have four-wheel drive for off-road capability.
Command Vehicle
Command vehicles serve as mobile command posts at emergency scenes, equipped with communications equipment and workspace for incident commanders.
EMS Unit
Emergency Medical Services units provide pre-hospital care and transport for medical emergencies, ranging from basic life support to advanced life support capabilities.
